Extension permissions

Access to all sites
Subtitles are loaded from video service CDNs — their URLs are unpredictable. Needed to download .vtt files.
Storage
Translation cache, settings, API key. Everything is stored locally, not synced.
Web requests (webRequest)
Intercepting subtitle URLs from the HLS stream. The extension doesn't modify requests, only observes.

Troubleshooting

“Developer mode” won't turn on
Make sure you have sufficient permissions. In corporate networks, developer mode may be blocked by the administrator.
Extension won't load
Check that you selected the folder containing manifest.json, not the parent folder or the .zip archive.
Subtitle panel doesn't appear
Reload the video page. The extension needs to be loaded before playback starts to intercept subtitle URLs.
