Honest limitations

The AI model sees only subtitle text — not the video. It doesn’t know if a man or woman is speaking, so grammatical gender may be wrong. It can’t always distinguish formal and informal “you”. Neologisms may be translated literally.

These aren’t bugs — they’re inherent limits of text-only translation. A human translator working from a transcript alone would face the same issues.

What works well: Gemini Flash and Grok Fast produce translations comparable to good fansubs for fractions of a cent per episode — fast, quality, cheap. Claude Sonnet is the premium option for maximum quality, but more expensive and slower.
