Podstr is a browser extension that translates video subtitles in real time using AI. The extension does not extract, copy, or distribute video or audio content.
How translation works
- The extension intercepts text subtitles that the video platform delivers to the user's browser during normal playback
- Subtitle text is sent to an AI model for translation (via OpenRouter API or the podstr.cc backend)
- Translated subtitles are displayed over the video in the user's browser
What we do not do
- We do not extract or copy video or audio
- We do not circumvent DRM or other content protection
- We do not distribute original subtitles as files
- We do not publish full transcripts on the site
- We do not provide access to content without a subscription to the respective service
User responsibility
The user must have legitimate access to the video content (an active subscription to the streaming service or other lawful basis). Podstr is a tool, not a content source.
